Anderson men snap long ICAC skid
ANDERSON, Ind. – Sophomore Chaz Smoot drained a jumper from the free throw line with one second remaining to give his Anderson Ravens a 72-71 come-from-behind victory against the Spartans of Manchester on Feb. 11. The victory is the first Indiana Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season win in 21 games for the Ravens, dating to a 79-74 victory against Franklin on Feb. 10, 1996. Anderson came back from a 12-point (44-32) halftime deficit to gain the victory.
The Ravens (9-12, 1-8) took their first lead of the game at 70-69 on a free throw by sophomore Michael Wingert with 1:34 remaining in the contest. The Spartans (14-7, 5-4) regained a one-point lead with two free throws from freshman Jeremy Neely for a 71-70 lead. Noel Nitecki led the victors with a team-high 14 points and six assists.
