Colorado College women's coach steps down
Kelly Mahlum, head coach of the Colorado College women’s basketball team since September 2001, has resigned her position, director of athletics Ken Ralph announced. A national search for her replacement will begin immediately.
"While we all are sad to see Kelly go, we fully respect her desire to seek new challenges in her life," Ralph said. "Coach Mahlum is an excellent coach and teacher of the game of basketball. Colorado College was fortunate to have her services for so long."
In seven seasons at the helm, Mahlum guided the Tigers to a 64-106 overall record, the best for a head coach since Beth Branson compiled a 24-43 mark from 1985 through 1988.
In 2007-08, Mahlum led CC into league play as a new member of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. In their inaugural year in the competitive SCAC, the Tigers went 8-6, finished second in the Western Division and made the semifinals of the conference tournament. The three teams that finished ahead of them in the SCAC all qualified for the national playoffs.
Colorado College finished 13-13 overall this season.
