Illinois Wesleyan 132, Grinnell 91
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — Illinois Wesleyan placed six players in double figures as the Titans defeated Grinnell 132-91 in the first round of 2001 NCAA Tournament.

The Titans (20-6) advance to play Wartburg (24-3) on March 3. Grinnell finishes the season at 16-8.

IWU was led by John Camardella with 22 points on 8-for-9 shooting from the floor and 3-for-3 from three-point range. Chris Silagi added 21, Luke Kasten 20, Seth Hubbard 16, Todd Wente 15 and Eric Starkey 13 as IWU set school single-game records for points and free-throws made.

The performance also broke the NCAA Tournament record for scoring, set by Wheaton (Ill.) in 1996 against Grinnell.

Grinnell was led by Steve Wood with 15 and was held below 100 points for only the third time this season. The Pioneers shot 13-for-52 from three-point range and 28-for-89 from the floor. They were outrebounded 59-35.
