Women's Danielle Barber
Barber led the Rangers to a 3-0 week, filling up the stat sheet in a crosstown
rivalry win against FDU with 18 points, six rebounds, six assists and
four steals. She had five points and a steal in the last 90 seconds of
the 52-46 win. Barber averaged 16.3 pts, 6.7 assists, five rebounds and
four steals for the week.
Margo Muhlbauer
Muhlbauer started the season with three consecutive games of 20-plus points,
averaging 26.3 points while shooting 6-for-14 from three-point range and
23-for-27 from the line in a 3-0 week.
Breanna Bohlen
Bohlen had an impressive debut for Thunder last week as she helped lead
the team to a 2-1 record. On Friday she scored 24 points, in just her
second collegiate game, in leading Wheaton to a 78-73 victory against
St. Mary's (Ind.). Bohlen shot 6-for-8 from three-point range, with seven
rebounds and five blocked shots in the victory. On Saturday she scored
14 points, with five rebounds, as Wheaton defeated Bluffton.
Jackie Cortese
Cortese averaged 22.0 points and 9.3 rebounds, while shooting 50.0% (19-38)
from the floor and 87.5% (28-32) from the charity stripe in a 3-0 week.
Cortese started the week with an 18 point, 8-8 from the line, effort in
a 60-55 victory over Bethany. The sophomore followed her performance in
the opener with back-to-back double-doubles at the UAA/OAC Challenge on
her way to being named Most Valuable Player. In an opening day 69-61 victory
over Marietta, she poured in a career-high 24 points and hauled in a game-high
10 rebounds. The next night, she matched her career-high in points and
grabbed a season-high 12 rebounds.
Hannah Mesick
Mesick scored a team-high 20 points and added 15 rebounds in a 74-67 loss
to St. Benedict. She had five assists and shot 7-for-11 from the floor,
6-for-7 from the foul line.
Men's
Logan Wolfrum Wolfrum burst onto the collegiate scene with a pair of 20-point
games and MVP honors of Adrian's tournament. Wolfrum averaged 22.0 points,
5.7 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game to lead DC to a 3-0
start.
Aaron Thompson
Thompson averaged 29.5 points per game as the Bears captured Illinois
Wesleyan's tournament title. Thompson had 28 points in an 85-68 victory
over Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday, and then tied his career-high with 31
points in a 76-71 victory at Illinois Wesleyan in the championship game.
Thompson was 12-of-20 from the field and hit 5-of-6 six from the foul
line against Illinois Wesleyan.
Chad Burridge Burridge led the Lakers to a 2-1 record by averaging 22.3 points in
26.7 minutes per game. He was named the Most Valuable Player of the Max
Ziel Men's Basketball Tournament as Oswego State brought home the championship
trophy. Burridge shot 58.5 percent from the floor and 16-for-20 from the
foul line.
Tim McCrary McCrary helped lead Wheaton to a pair of victories and the tournament
championship at its own Lee Pfund Classic, as McCrary was the recipient
of the Will Landry Memorial Tournament MVP award. On Friday night, Wheaton
defeated Trine 54-39 as McCrary grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds, and
scored 10 points. On Saturday he scored 29 points, with six rebounds,
three assists and three steals in leading the Thunder to an 88-72 victory
against McMurry.
Marcel Esonwune Esonwune averaged 18.7 points and 18.3 rebounds in three games last
week. He recorded double-doubles in all three contests and set a new career-high
in rebounds with 26 on Saturday against Montclair State.
