Gallaudet center Ronda Jo Miller returns and becomes the only three-time Team
of the Year first-teamer, joining King’s forward Joanne Polakoski as returning
first teamers. They are joined by Washington University’s Alia Fischer,
Scranton’s Kelly Halpin and Wisconsin-Eau Claire’s Jayme Anderson on the
D3hoops.com Team of the Year, announced March 16, 2000.

Kelly Halpin
The four-year starter is the second all-time leading
scorer in Lady Royals history with 1,830 points and the all-time leader in
assists with 497. Halpin is a four-time first-team all-Middle Atlantic
Conference member. She has led Scranton to a four-year record of 103-18,
including three NCAA Final Four berths and leads Scranton in the following
statistical categories: scoring (14.8), assists (4.8), field goal percentage
(.460) and free throw percentage (.795). Halpin has scored in double figures in
27 of 29 games this year, including her last 11 games.
Jayme Anderson
The 5-10 junior set a school scoring record for the third year in a row. As
a freshman at Beloit College, she scored 441 to set the school's scoring record.
Last year, as a sophomore, she broke the UWEC single season mark with 565
points. This year, she broke her own record and currently has 607 points. In 56
Blugold career games, she has 1,172 points to rank ninth on the all-time scoring
list. With 426 rebounds, she already ranks 15th on that list and with 100
assists, she ranks 22nd on that list. She tied the school single-game scoring
mark with 35 against UW-Whitewater. Anderson was a third-teamer in 1998 and
1999.
Joanne Polakoski
The senior led King's to its first-ever NCAA tourney berth and the Sweet
Sixteen, averaging 21.1 points and 11.1 rebounds per game, while posting career
season-highs of 46 assists, 31 blocks, and 58 steals. She was named Freedom
League Player of the Week eight of 12 weeks this season. Polakoski graduates as
King's second all-time leading scorer with 1,971 points while holding school
record for field goal percentage at 56.3 (792-for-1406). Her 632 points are
second-highest single-season total in school history. Polakoski was a 1999 Team
of the Year first-teamer.
Ronda Jo Miller
The senior is the only player to have been named First Team on all three
D3hoops.com Teams of the Year, in 1998, 1999 and 2000. Miller finished her
career with 2,656 points, 1,545 rebounds, 373 blocks and 337 steals. She also
holds Gallaudet records for points in a game (47) and season (790), rebounds in
a game (27) and season (407), blocks in a game (nine) and season (121) and field
goals in a game (19), season (337) and career (1,090). Miller averaged 22.7
points, 12.8 rebounds, 3.3 steals and 2.5 blocked shots per game.
Alia Fischer
Fischer became Washington U.’s all-time leader in points, rebounds and
blocks earlier this year. She currently ranks third all-time at WU in career
steals (185), first in career field-goal percentage (.578) and third in career
free throw percentage (.759). The senior needs just 50 points to eclipse the
2,000 career point plateau and currently leads the team in scoring, rebounding,
blocked shots and field goal percentage.

The two-time Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference
MVP, Turnbow holds conference records in points (1,762), assists (445), and free
throws made (436). The senior was second all time in conference in steals (269)
and three-pointers (201). She averaged 15.6 points and 4.9 assists.
Alison Grubbs
The two-time Midwest Conference MVP led the conference in scoring and free
throw percentage while ranking second for three-point field goal percentage and
fourth for assists. She scored in double figures every game this season and
recorded at least three steals on 17 occasions. Grubbs was honorable mention
Team of the Year in 1999.
Keri Canning
Canning, the Ohio Athletic Conference MVP, averaged 21.8 points and 9.9
rebounds to finish first and second, respectively. The junior shot 52.5% from
the floor and 46.3% from three-point range on the season.
Marissa Garrity
The New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic
Conference MVP, Garrity averaged 20.5 points and 6.3 rebounds for the conference
champions. The senior shot 30% from three-point range and 76% from the foul
line. Her 1,580 points rank fourth all-time at Clark.
Laura Wendorff
The all-time leading scorer and rebounder in St.
Benedict history, Wendorff was named All-MIAC and to the conference’s
All-Defensive team. The senior averaged 17.6 points and 9.3 rebounds per game.
Wendorff was an honorable mention Team of the Year pick in 1998.
