After 30 years coaching men's basketball at Hope, four of them as head coach, Matt Neil is leaving the institution.

Neil is a 1982 graduate of Hope College and succeeded longtime coach Glenn Van Wieren in June 2010. He and the school "have mutually agreed to part ways," according to the school's official statement.

The Flying Dutchmen were 88-26 in his four seasons at the helm, including 20-8 this past season. Hope lost at home to Penn State-Behrend in the first round of the NCAA Tournament this past March.

Van Wieren, who coached Neil, won 660 games at Hope and expressed a desire that Neil get the call to succeed him.

Hope will be the fourth Division III men's basketball NCAA Tournament program to change coaches this offseason, following Mary Washington, Cabrini and Rhode Island College.
