The University of Rochester women's basketball team posted a wire-to-wire 75-62 victory over #15 Ohio Northern University to capture the 2015 Chuck Resler Tournament title on Saturday evening at the Louis Alexander Palestra.

Tournament MVP Lauren Deming led Rochester (3-0) with a game high 18 points, including three 3-pointers, two of which were UR's first two baskets.  Sophomore Alexandra Leslie posted her second straight double-double, scoring 13 points and adding 10 rebounds.  Senior Tylar Guerrieri also had a double-double, with 10 points and 12 rebounds, joining Deming on the All-Tournament team.

Leading the way for the 15th-ranked Polar Bears (1-1) was Britt Lauck who had 16 points and five assists along with Amy Bullimore who had 13 points, 9 rebounds and 2 blocks.  Both were selected to the Resler All-Tournament team.

Deming started out hot for the Yellowjackets, recording eight points in the opening three minutes, helping Rochester to a 15-6 lead three quarters of the way through the 1st.  After Ohio Northern answered with six straight points to cut the lead to three, Rochester closed the quarter scoring seven of nine points to head to the 2nd up by eight at 22-14.

To start the 2nd quarter, Deming nailed a three pointer to give UR its first double-digit lead of the game.  After the Polar Bears again trimmed the lead to six, it was two more threes, this time from Guerrieri in the corner to put the Yellowjackets up by 12.  For the remainder of the half, UR would maintain the 10+ point lead, heading to the break up 40-24.

Following two Sarah Kaminsky free throws with seven minutes to play in the 3rd quarter to boost UR to its biggest lead of the game at 17, Ohio Northern stayed in it with a 14-4 spurt to cut the lead down to seven with two minutes left in the quarter.  Lauck and Jenna Dirksen each had five points for the Polar Bears in the stretch.

The Yellowjackets would quickly respond, getting eight straight points, netting 3-pointers from Kaminsky and Brynn Lauer to regain a comfortable 15-point advantage.  Overall on the night, UR hit 10-23 from long range while the Polar Bears made just 3-10 attempts from behind the arc.

Ohio Northern would get as close as eight points with four minutes left in the fourth quarter after a Lauck 3-pointer, but the Yellowjackets connected on their free throws down the stretch, cruising to the 13-point win.

Besides Deming, Leslie and Guerrieri, Lauer finished with 11 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists while Kaminsky and Kayla Kibling each added seven points each.  For ONU, Dirksen finished with nine points while Carly Thomas, Karissa Steffas and Angela Tesny each scored six.  The Yellowjackets held a big advantage on the glass, outrebounding Ohio Northern 49-35, including a 14-6 edge on the offensive boards.

Earlier in the day, St. Vincent College upended Stevenson University 57-55 in the 3rd place game.  Joining the four players from the championship game on the All-Tournament team were Sara Tarbert of Stevenson and Susie Ellis of St. Vincent.

Rochester's next game is slated for Tuesday November 24 at home against Oswego State.  Tip is slated for 6 pm.
