LANCASTER, Pa. – Senior forward Emily Gibbons (Annapolis, Md./Severn School) averaged a double-double in a 3-0 week for Gettysburg College to land Centennial Conference Player of the Week for the third time this season.
Gibbons put up 12 points and 12.3 rebounds per game while canning 53.3 percent of her field goal attempts last week. She became the program's career leader in rebounds with a dozen and scored nine points in a 69-55 victory at Dickinson. The senior forward grabbed a game-high 17 boards and tallied six of her 13 points in the final minutes to help the Bullets knock off No. 14 Muhlenberg College for the second time this season. Gibbons closed the week with 14 points and eight boards in just 17 minutes of a lop-sided win at Bryn Mawr College.
A six-time CC Player of the Week in her career, Gibbons currently paces the conference in field-goal percentage (.538), while ranking second in rebounding (11.3 rpg) and 12th in scoring (12.8 ppg). She is one of only two players averaging a double-double in the league.
Gettysburg (21-2, 17-1 CC) has already clinched the top seed and home-court advantage in the upcoming conference tournament (Feb. 23-24). The Bullets play their final regular-season home contest against McDaniel College (12-11, 10-8 CC) this Wednesday at 8 p.m. Both Gibbons and classmate Kendra Meredith (Boyds, Md./Northwest) will be recognized prior to the game as part of Senior Day.
