Gettysburg Earns Preseason National Ranking

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Gettysburg College women's basketball team was selected 19th in the Preseason Top 25 Poll.
After ending last season ranked 25th in the final poll, the Bullets climbed the ladder heading into 2018-19. Gettysburg picked up 136 total points and finished just one point behind Washington (Mo.) University in 18th. Amherst College earned the top spot in the poll with 617 points and 21 first place votes.
The Top 25 is voted on by a panel of 25 coaches, Sports Information Directors and media members from across the country, and is published weekly. Gettysburg was the only Centennial Conference team to receive votes in the poll.
The Bullets are coming off a record-breaking season on the hardwood. The team set a new program standard for wins with a record of 26-3 and carried a 16-game winning streak into the second round of the national playoffs. Along the way the Bullets set a new conference standard for victories with a mark of 19-1.
Gettysburg captured the second Centennial title in program history with a 44-35 victory over Haverford College inside Bream Gym and went on to compete in the NCAA Division III Tournament for the first time in five seasons.
Gone from last year's squad are All-American Emily Gibbons '18 and starting point guard Kendra Meredith '18, but the Bullets return the core of the lineup led by All-Mid-Atlantic Region Second Team shooting guard Emma Dorshimer'19 (Jenkintown, Pa./Jenkintown). Head Coach Nate Davis, the 2018 CC Coach of the Year, heads into his fourth season at the helm carrying a 65-17 record at the Burg.
Gettysburg opens the season with an exhibition at Division I University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) on Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. The Bullets officially kick off the schedule at home against Messiah College on Nov. 13 at 6 p.m.
