GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Senior Emma Dorshimer (Jenkintown, Pa./Jenkintown) was named to the Preseason All-America Team it was recently announced.
Dorshimer was tagged to the third team in the preseason release. The selection marked the second consecutive year Gettysburg College landed a player on the team as Emily Gibbons '18 copped second-team status a year ago.
Dorshimer is coming off another banner year with the Bullets. She led the squad and ranked seventh in the conference with 14.6 points per game. The senior guard set a new program standard with 66 three-pointers made and she also paced the league in free-throw percentage at 80.7. She was named All-Centennial Conference First Team for the second consecutive year and she was named All-Mid-Atlantic Region Second Team.
She posted double-figures in all but four games as Gettysburg marched to the conference title and a program record 26 victories. Dorshimer posted six 20-point performances, including a career-high 30 against Johns Hopkins University.
Dorshimer has developed into one of the top offensive players in program history and already ranks seventh on the Bullets' career list with 1,246 points. The guard has scored more points through three seasons than any player in school history. She also sits second in career three-pointers with 172, just 14 shy of all-time leader Dana Bear '04.
Gettysburg, which was picked 19th in the Preseason Top 25 Poll, opens the season with an exhibition game at Division I UMBC on Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. The first official game of 2018-19 will take place at home inside Bream Gym against No. 11 Messiah College on Nov. 13 at 6 p.m.
