    SALEM, Va. - Carroll University Senior Olivia Rangel has been selected as a finalist for the prestigious Jostens Trophy, as announced Friday by the Rotary Club of Salem, Va. Each year, the Jostens Trophy honors one male and one female from a list of 10 finalists from each gender, which recognizes the most outstanding men's and women's Division-III basketball players of the year. Rangel is the fifth Pioneer since 2010 to be named a Jostens Trophy finalist, joining John Hoch (2010), Lyndsey Seewald (2011), Emily DeNoyer (2014), and Malory Christenson (2016).
  • Carroll Advances To CCIW Championship Game For Second Consecutive Season

    BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Carroll's women's basketball team returned to the scene of their first-ever CCIW Tournament Championship Friday afternoon, as the Pios began their quest for a repeat with a convincing 89-54 victory against Wheaton (Ill.) in the semifinals of the 2025 CCIW Tournament at Shirk Center in Bloomington, Ill. Carroll led for all but four minutes in the game, scorching the nets to the tune of 57 percent (34-60) from the field and 50 percent (8-16) from 3-point range. That advances the Pioneers to Saturday night's CCIW Championship Game at 7 p.m. against the winner of the Illinois Wesleyan vs. Millikin semifinal.

    NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Carroll Senior Guard Olivia Rangel has been named the 2025 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Lori Kerans Most Outstanding Student-Athlete. That comes as part of Monday's CCIW All-Conference release, which also saw Rangel earn her fourth consecutive First Team honor, including two consecutive unanimous selections. This marks just the second time a Carroll women's basketball player has received the CCIW's Most Outstanding Student-Athlete award, and first since the inaugural year it was given in 1987. It is the seventh Player of the Year award in program history, and first since 2012, when Carroll was a member of the Midwest Conference.

    NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The Carroll University women's basketball team received three All-Conference selections Monday afternoon, with the release of the 2025 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) All-Conference awards. Senior Guard Olivia Rangel and Junior Forward Natalie Gricius each earned unanimous First Team Selections, while Junior Guard Emilie Wizner received Second Team honors. This marks the fourth consecutive season that the Pioneers have had three players named to the All-Conference team.

That's exactly what happened for the Carroll University Women's Basketball team Saturday afternoon, as Olivia Rangel celebrated her Senior Day by eclipsing the program's career records for both assists (377) and steals (260), helping the Pios earn a dominating 103-63 victory against Augustana (IL). That marks the second time in this calendar year that Carroll has scored in triple digits.
