The tenth edition of the D3hoops.com Classic will feature one of the best collections of women's teams you'll find anywhere outside of the NCAA Tournament itself. Four teams currently ranked in the Top 10 will come to the South Point Arena, plus conference title contenders from the GNAC, SCIAC, CCC and PAC. The men's side has a West Region vs. Atlantic Region flavor with matchups you won't see anywhere else.
As always, there's a ton to do in Las Vegas, and from Dec. 27-30, much of it will involve NCAA Division III basketball.
We could have a preview of future NCAA Tournament matchups when No. 2 Scranton battles No. 9 George Fox and No. 6 Amherst takes on No. 10 DeSales. How about a East-meets-West contrast in styles when Western Pennsylvania's St. Vincent plays Los Angeles-based Claremont-Mudd-Scripps? And that's just in our women's basketball games!
For the men, D3hoops Classic mainstay Ramapo returns to Vegas and will try to slow down Muskingum scoring machine Marcus Dempsey, who is averaging almost 30 points per game. All-American Sam Toney will lead New Jersey City into battle against UW-River Falls while St. Scholastica makes its D3hoops.com Classic debut against return participant Central.
All told, 16 teams will join the D3hoops.com crew and the folks from Sport Tours International, the tournament organizers, at the South Point hotel and casino in Vegas. We pair the teams up as best as we are allowed to do in order to bring you the most competitive games possible, although teams' travel schedules and, occasionally, the scheduling demands of coaches interfere.
