Augsburg women’s basketball head coach Jennifer Britz announced her resignation from her coaching duties effective March 4, college officials announced.

Britz was hired as head coach for the 2004-05 season, after serving as an assistant coach the previous year. She had a 33-160 record at Augsburg, including a 29-143 record in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play. This season, Augsburg finished 5-20 overall, 4-18 in MIAC play.

Athletic director Jeff Swenson announced that a search for a new head coach will begin immediately.

“I want to thank her for her seven years of service to the college, her commitment to Augsburg athletics and the women’s basketball program, and we wish her the best of luck in the future,” Swenson said. “She’s been an important part of Augsburg athletics for the past seven years.”

During Britz’s tenure at Augsburg, the Auggies have had 10 All-MIAC players (All-MIAC and Honorable Mention), three All-MIAC Rookie Team members and 17 Academic All-MIAC honorees. The 2007-08 Auggies recorded a team grade-point average of 3.42, finishing 18th among all NCAA Division III women’s basketball programs in team GPA.

“I would like to thank the many people – colleagues, students and student-athletes – who have influenced and impacted my life as a result of working at Augsburg, as well as the institution for allowing me the opportunity to coach and teach for the past seven years,” Britz said.

Britz was a four-year letterwinner, three-year starter and two-time honorable-mention All-North Central Conference selection during her playing days (1996-2000) at South Dakota State. She earned her bachelor’s degree from SDSU in 2000 and her master’s degree in exercise training from St. Cloud State in 2003.
