CLINTON, MS - The Mississippi College men's basketball team opened the 2010-11 season with a 74-71 win over Pensacola Christian on Saturday afternoon at A.E. Wood Coliseum.  The Choctaws and the Eagles combined to commit 61 fouls and attempt 84 free throws in the contest.

The game came down to the final seconds, and the Choctaws only claimed victory after Tyler Scott missed a three-point attempt and junior Greg Pulliam came away with the rebound.

MC held their largest lead of the game with 9:30 left when junior Chad Jones knocked down a jumper to extend the lead to 58-40.

The Choctaws were led by junior Kendre' Smith with 14 points, including making 6-10 free throws.  Sophomore Cameron Bounds scored 12 points, also making six free throws in the game.

The Choctaws finished the game 25-42 from the free throw line, while the Eagles connected on 26-42 free shots.

Senior Ken Black led the team with eight rebounds, while junior Rodney Brumfield pulled down seven boards.

The Eagles were led by Mike Goetsch with 13 points and seven rebounds.  Matt Goetsch scored 11 points points and Ryan Scott led PCC with 10 rebounds.

The Choctaws will be back in action on Monday when they host the University of New Orleans at 7:00 p.m. in the "Golden Dome".
