SHEBOYGAN, Wis. – It always tough to win conference games on the road, especially when the home team shoots the lights out. The Edgewood College men's basketball team ran into a hot Lakeland College offense on Thursday night at Woltzen Gymnasium. The Muskies shot 62.5 percent from three point range in their 92-83 victory.

With the Eagles (13-7, 9-3 NAC) trailing 3-2, Michael Gehring scored six straight points to put the Eagles up 8-5 before Kent Faurote took over. Faurote scored 11 of the Eagles next 13 points and gave Edgewood College a 21-11 lead with 10:50 left in the first half.

The Muskies (12-8, 7-5 NAC) began to chip away at the lead and cut their deficit to five before Faurote answered. The junior scored six consecutive points for the Eagles, stretching the lead to 35-24 with 3:21 remaining in the first half.

However, Lakeland finished the first half with a bang. After a Gehring layup with 16 seconds left, the Muskies held for the last shot. Josh Regal lined up a three-point shot from the top of the key and banked it in at the buzzer to make the halftime score 39-34 in favor of the Eagles.

Faurote, who was wearing number 30 instead of his usual number four, came off the bench and made his first seven shots. He ended the first half with 20 points on 8-for-10 shooting from the floor. For the Muskies, it was Regal that led the way with 14 points in the first frame.

Lakeland's momentum carried over into the second half as they scored the first five points to tie the game at 39. The teams then went back and forth, and the Muskies gained a five point advantage with 13:15 left before the Eagles went on a run. Jeff Barczak sparked a 6-2 spurt and the Eagles cut the deficit to 60-59. The game remained tight until the Muskies went on a run.

With seven minutes left, Germell Heard started an 8-1 Lakeland run with a layup. Jack Ridgway made a three-point basket and Rotruck completed a three-point play to push the lead to 77-67 with 6:01 to play.

The Eagles cut the deficit to 88-81 with 59 seconds left, but the Muskies made their free throws down the stretch to take the contest 92-83. Lakeland went 22-for-27 (81.5 percent) from the charity stripe while the Eagles went 19-for-30 or 63.3 percent from the free throw line.

Both teams shot well from the field as the Eagles went 30-for-56 for 53.3 percent while the Muksies were 30-for-54 for 55.6 percent. However, Lakeland shot much better from three-point land, going 10-for-16 for 62.6 percent while the Eagles were just 4-for-11, or 44.4 percent.

Faurote ended the game with 26 points on 11-for-15 shooting, including 3-for-4 from long range. Ben Wisniewski scored 24 points, marking the second straight game the Eagles had two scorers score 20 or more points. Gehring was the final Eagle in double figures with 13 points.

For the Muskies it was Regal and Rotruck that led the way with 28 points apiece. Rotruck scored 23 points in the second half while Regal shot 8-for-11 from the floor, including a perfect 5-for-5 from three-point land. Ridgway and Bobby Komorowski chipped in with 13 and 10 points, respectively. Regal also tallied a game-high six assists.

The Eagles have a quick turnaround as they host Aurora University on Saturday at Edgewood College's annual Jam the Gym event. Tipoff is scheduled for 4:15 p.m.
