Kohawks stay perfect on the road in IIAC

Simpson had an 8-5 lead with 17:39 left in the first half, but Coe went on a 9-0 run in the next 2:54 to take the lead.  The Kohawks would hold that lead for the remainder of the game.  Coe ended the first half on a 6-2 run to take a 37-32 lead into the locker room.

Cornelius Mosby hit a layup :11 into the second half to cut the lead to three, but Coe went on a 15-3 run over the next 5:51 to open the game up.  The Kohawks had a 13-point lead with 10:29 remaining and went on a 14-5 run in the next 3:13 to take a 22 point lead.

Trailing by 23 with 3:19 remaining, the Storm closed the game on a 23-7 run.  The Kohawks had just two field goals during the stretch.

Coe was led by four players  in double figures.  Freshman Andrew Wirth (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Cedar Falls) had 14 points to lead the way, while sophomore David Mataloni(Urbandale, Iowa/Urbandale) added 12.  Senior Alex Tatman (Humboldt, Iowa/Humboldt) and sophomore Garrett Cross (Spring Grove, Minn./Spring Grove) each had 10 points.  Sophomore Seth Light (Carlisle, Iowa/Carlisle) and junior Jake Raney (Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna) had nine points apiece.

Light and Tatman led the Kohawks with six rebounds apiece, while seniorDan Borngraeber (Brookfield, Wis./East) added five.  Senior Dan Onorato (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) had three assists and Wirth added two steals.

As a team, the Kohawks shot 27-of-44 (61.4 percent) from the field and 9-of-14 (64.3 percent) from 3-point range.  Simpson was held to 26-of-61 shooting (42.6 percent) and 7-of-16 shooting from downtown (43.8 percent).

Coe will hit the road once again on Wednesday, as they travel to Loras.  Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. in Dubuque.
