JACKSON, MS - The Mississippi College men's basketball team shot 64% (16-25) from the floor in the second half on their way to a 69-60 win over Millsaps on Thursday afternoon in the Magnolia Classic. The tournament is being played at Belhaven University's Rugg Arena.
After a sluggish first half that saw the Choctaws (2-6) take a 24-21 lead, both teams heated up to score a combined 84 points in the second period.
Senior Greg Pulliam scored a career-high 28 points, going 10-19 from the floor and making 8-13 free throws. Pulliam also pulled down six rebounds and dished out five assists.
Senior Trevon Malone and junior Adam Smith chipped in 13 points apiece, while Smith pulled down a game-high eight rebounds. Senior Marlon Ester led the Choctaws with six assists.
Nick Cortese scored 14 points for the Majors (5-4), going 3-9 from the three-point line. Taylor Meades added 10 points for Millsaps, who only shot 40% from the floor and 54% (15-28) from the free throw line.
The Choctaws will play in the championship game of the Magnolia Classic on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. at Rugg Arena. MC will face the winner of the Rust vs. Belhaven game.
