ORLANDO, Fla.— Bradley Doyley (Brooklyn/Sports Management HS) dished out a career-best 12 assists and Buffalo State (6-3) earned its fourth-straight win, defeating North Central (7-3), 80-72, in the final game of the Athletic Connections Holiday Classic at the Orlando Downtown Recreation Complex.
Roderick Epps (Uniondale/Uniondale) led the Bengals with 22 points, while Justin Mitchell (Buffalo/Timon) added 18. Chris Thompson (Far Rockaway/Channel View) finished with 13 points and 11 rebounds, and Jordan Glover (Buffalo/St. Joe's) chipped in 10 points. Doyley added seven rebounds to go with his 12 assists.
Buffalo State took a 13-6 lead in the opening minutes of the game and pushed the lead to as many as 16 in the opening frame before leading 36-29 at the break. Buffalo State again grew the lead to 16 in the second half, but Cardinals stormed back and led briefly at 66-63 with seven minutes remaining. The game was tied 70-70 with four minutes remaining before the Bengals assembled a 10-0 run to take control.
Buffalo State shot 49-percent from the field, and 42-percent from 3-point range. North Central hit 43-percent of its field goals, but just 29-percent from long range. The Bengals outscored the Cardinals 25-11 at the free-throw line.
Buffalo State will take an extended holiday break and return to action with a road SUNYAC contest at Cortland on Jan. 10.
