NEW LONDON, N.H. -- Colby-Sawyer defeated Maine Maritime 91-51 in a North Atlantic Conference men's basketball game Friday. The Chargers improved to 11-8 overall, 10-3 NAC, while the Mariners fell to 1-19, 0-13.
Maine Maritime was led by freshman Dylan Price, who scored 12 points and picked up four steals. Jason Hatch chipped in nine points, while freshman Tyler Gilson and Tyler Chiasson grabbed a game-high seven boards apiece.
Colby-Sawyer sophomore Wol Majong led all players with 24 points in 18 minutes on 9-11 shooting, including 6-7 from beyond the arc. Mike Dias added 14 points and Peter Donato scored 13. Junior Kyle Nelson was the fourth Charger to reach double figures with 11 points.
The first several minutes of the game went back and forth before Maine Maritime took a 13-11 edge after a Brian Goda jumper with 12:16 on the clock. The Chargers scored the next 17 points to take a 28-13 lead. Colby-Sawyer continued to force turnovers and widened its lead to 20 at the break, 46-26. The Mariners shot 50 percent in the first half, but had 21 miscues, which turned into 22 Colby-Sawyer points.
Colby-Sawyer continued to build its advantage in the second frame and took its largest lead of 43 at the 8:37 mark.
The Chargers finished the game with 35 points off 37 Mariner turnovers.
