Allentown, PA (December 20, 2021) - The 24th ranked DeSales University men's basketball team stayed unbeaten on the season with a 72-60 win at Muhlenberg College in non-conference action on Monday evening in Memorial Hall.
The Basics

- Records: DeSales (11-0 overall); Muhlenberg (3-7 overall)
- The Bulldogs are now 11-0 for the first time in team history, surpassing the previous best start to a year in 2008-09 (9-0).
- The Bulldogs have now won five of the last six meetings in the series and trail the Mules 27-22 all-time. DSU is now 12-14 in Memorial Hall.
How it Happened
- The Mules led early (13-11) before an 8-0 run starting with a dunk from junior Keba Mitchell put the visitor's up 19-13 at the 11:38 mark of the first-half.
- After Muhlenberg cut it back down to two points, DSU used a 9-0 run to take a 28-17 lead that featured two more dunks from Mitchell and continued to lead by nine (39-30) at the halftime break.
- The second-half was back-and-forth with DeSales still holding a nine-point advantage at the 8:22 mark before the Mules got within four (59-55) at the 6:20 mark and again with 2:32 to go.
- After a Bulldog timeout senior Dat Lambert hit a three-pointer and a block from sophomore Elijah Eberly on the other end led to a lay-up from senior Matt Kachelries making it a nine-point game with 1:32 left and DSU cruised in from there.
Top Bulldog Performers
- Junior Will Bowen led another balanced attack with 11 points off the bench, adding five rebounds and five assists.
- Eberly also had double digits with 10 points and added six boards and three blocks.
- Kachelries had nine points and seven assists.
- Lambert and Mitchell each finished with eight points.
For the Foes
- Dan Gaines led the Mules with 19 points and added six rebounds and six helpers.
- Nate Henty Brown also reached double digits with 10 tallies.
Inside the Box Score
- DeSales held a 42-30 advantage on the glass and scored 42 of its 72 points in the paint.
- The Bulldogs shot 49.2 percent from the field and held MU to just 38.6 percent shooting.
