Sophomore forward Jay Randall made 9-11 shots from the floor to pace five Eagles in double figures, as the University of Mary Washington men's basketball team defeated Bridgewater College, 75-66, on Wednesday night at Ron Rosner Arena. UMW's Eagles improve to 7-7 on the season.

UMW started swiftly, with back-to-back three pointers from first year guard Kye Robinson. Another three from first year Ulysses Young ran the home lead to 9-5 with 16:53 left, but Bridgewater rallied to take the lead at 13-12 12:50 remaining. The visitors went on a 9-0 run to take a 36-24 advantage with 4:06 left, and led, 44-33, at intermission.

In the second half, UMW continued to shoot well (50%), and Bridgewater cooled from a 7-13 three point shooting performance in the first to 1-13 in the second half, prompting UMW's comeback. The big run came three minutes into the half, as a Randall lay in kickstarted a 15-0 run, in which Randall scored four, and three pointers were made by Cameron McCravy, Ulysses Young, and Jose Fudd.

Bridgewater regained the lead, 56-54, with 9:34 left, but UMW answered with the next five points, and never trailed down the stretch, finishing with a 16-8 spurt.

Randall went 9-11 from the floor and 2-3 from the free throw line en route to 20 points, while Robinson added 14, andYoung scored 12, making 4-5 three point attempts. McCravy scored 10 points, as did Jadon Burgess added 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Mary Washington shot 47.3% for the game (26-55), making 11-31 three point shots, and 12-16 free throws. Bridgewater shot the same from the floor (26-55), making 8-26 three point tries and 6-7 free throws. UMW led in rebounds, 33-28.

The Eagles will be back in action on Monday at Dickinson College at 7:30 pm.
