REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands men's basketball team (4-0) stayed perfect on the season with a 106-92 win over Schreiner University, their third 100-point game to begin the season.

After struggling in first halves in the opening two games, the Bulldogs have had double-digit leads in the first 20 minutes in each of their last two games as they led by 10 plus for the final nine minutes of the first half. Jake Hlywiak made a three off a Cam Brown assist to begin what would be 27-16 run that helped lead them to a 17-point lead, 53-36, at the half.

The lead was as large as 22, 65-43, with 15:59 on the clock following a Jhace Boston free throw, but the Mountaineers cut the lead down to 12 only two minutes and 20 seconds later.

It seemed like the Bulldogs would be fine until the 4:40 mark of the second half when Schreiner got out on a fastbreak and made it a nine-point game, 87-78.

Brown then found Derek Sangster for a three and Nathan Mattera assisted Brown for a paint jumper, and the lead was back to five possessions, 92-78.

Schreiner got the deficit to eight with 1:27 to play, but Donovan Ware made a three and Omari Ferguson, Boston, and Ware all made both of their free throws to secure the win.

Boston, Hlywiak, Ferguson, Ware, Sangster, and Lucas Gordon all had double figures. Brown had an all-around night with eight points, eight rebounds, and six assists.

Willamette University is in Redlands for a Friday night game this coming November 21 at 7 p.m.
