Kerrville, Texas - The Centenary men's basketball team was edged 68-65 by the Schreiner University Mountaineers on Sunday afternoon in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contest inside Stephens Family Arena.
The Gents (2-10, 1-3 SCAC) were down seven points to the Mountaineers (7-6, 4-0 SCAC) with just under three minutes to play before finishing the game on a 6-2 run but came up just short. Centenary was aiming for an unbeaten weekend after defeating the McMurry University War Hawks by a score of 94-89 on Friday evening in Abilene, Texas.
Senior G Quentin Beverly (Katy, Texas) led all scorers with 27 points and eclipsed 1,000 career points on Sunday after scoring 30 on Friday night. Beverly reached double figures for the 11th game in a row as he has scored 20+ points five times this season.
