NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Bethany College men's basketball freshman guard Jaden Stewart (Pikeville, Ky./Pike County Central) has been named the Presidents' Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Week for the first time in his career.
Stewart earns his first career Newcomer of the Week honor and the second straight for the Bison after helping lead the Bethany offense against Washington & Jefferson and Hiram last week. In the Green and White's 87-84 win over W&J, he scored a career-high 18 points on 6-for-10 shooting from three, as well as recording four rebounds, three steals, and one assist. Against the Terriers, Stewart added five points and a rebound to finish with 23 points on the week.
This season, Stewart has appeared in all 13 games. He has scored 66 points for an average of 5.1 points per game, which includes 16 three-pointers and a team-best 36.4% shooting percentage from deep. Stewart has also recorded 21 rebounds, six steals, five blocks, and three assists.
The Bison are back in action on Wednesday, January 14 as they travel to Steubenville, Ohio to take on the Franciscan University of Steubenville (Ohio) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference matchup at 6 p.m. in Finnegan Fieldhouse.
