William Paterson Men's Basketball Falls to TCNJ

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson men's basketball team (6-11, 1-9 NJAC) fell, 74-51, to The College of New Jersey (12-5, 7-3 NJAC) in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game Jan. 21 at the Sports and Recreation Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Pioneers fell behind by double figures in the first half after the Lions opened the contest on an 18-7 run.
  • TCNJ carried a 15-point advantage (32-17) into the half and continued to build on its lead in the second stanza.
  • With 10:50 remaining in the game, a layup by senior Christian Gilmore sparked an 18-10 WP run, but the Lions held on to their lead and earned the 74-51 road win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

  • Sophomore Jianni Moran scored a team-best 11 points, adding a pair of assists.
  • Senior Ethan Paul and freshman Demond Kinchen Jr. recorded eight points apiece.
  • Freshman Nahsir Merrick had seven points to go with season highs in rebounds (10) and blocks (4).

  • William Paterson heads to Galloway, N.J., Saturday, Jan. 24, for a 1:00 p.m. conference game at Stockton.
