Wesley Defeats Hood Women, 77-60

FREDERICK, Md.--The Hood College women's basketball team (4-3, 0-2 CAC) dropped its second consecutive Capital Athletic Conference game in their match-up against the Wesley College Wolverines (2-3, 1-1 CAC), 77-60, Saturday afternoon at the Odom Fitness Center at Fort Detrick. 

The Blazers were up early, but were never able to maintain their momentum verses the Wolverines. Hood held their largest lead of the game, 13-6, following consecutive layups by Allyson Lethbridge and Dyanna Prater with 14:31 to play in the opening half.

But the Wolverines drained three consecutive treys to tie the game at 15. The Wolverines, who buried eight first-half treys, built a lead as large as 19 points and finished the half up 46-29.

The Blazer women came back strong in the second half twice bringing the score to within 10 points, but were never able to get any closer as the Wolverines continued their scoring frenzy to finish the game, 77-60.

Hood was led by Prater who registered a career-high 19 points on 6-of-11 from the floor and 7-of-7 from the foul line. Sophomore Briana White continued her scoring spree with 15 and Lethbridge contributed 11 to the Blazers' total.

The Wolverines continued to be led by their leading scorer, senior Angie Owens, who finished the game with 26 points. Senior Allison Beddia tallied an additional 17 points and sophomore Jazmine Miller posted 14.

The Blazers host Frostburg State University on Wednesday, December 8 at 6 p.m. to continue conference play.
