Huge Second Half Lifts Buffalo State Over Plattsburgh, 57-48

BUFFALO, NY— Ashley Wallace (Lockport/Starpoint) had 19 points and 12 rebounds and Buffalo State (9-8/5-5) erased a 16-point deficit to defeat Plattsburgh (9-8/5-5), 57-48, in a SUNYAC game tonight at the Sports Arena.

Bianca Smiley (Amherst/Sweet Home) bolstered the Bengals' comeback with 18 points and eight boards, and Shay Jackson (Syracuse/Henninger) had six points and grabbed 10 rebounds. 

Buffalo State stumbled out of the gates, shooting just 19-percent in the first half while committing 13 turnovers, falling down by as many as 16 points.  Plattsburgh led 31-18 lead at the intermission.  The Bengals battled back in the second half, but continued to trail 47-43 with just less than six minutes remaining.  Buffalo State then assembled a 12-0 run over a span of five minutes to pull off the victory.

The Bengals outrebounded Plattsburgh 56-48, and committed just four turnovers in the second half.  Buffalo State shot just 27-percent from the field for the game and 17-percent (2 for 12) from 3-point range.  Plattsburgh connected on just 25-percent of its field goal attempts, including goin 1 for 12 from long range.

Buffalo State will host Potsdam tomorrow at 2 p.m.
