NEW YORK – Bria Fisher and Syreeta Williams scored 15 points apiece and Giovanna Blanco pulled down 12 rebounds and swatted away three shots but the slow start was too much to overcome as the City College of New York (4-17, 4-9 CUNYAC) were turned away by the Hawks of Hunter College (9-12, 8-5 CUNYAC), 67-58, on Saturday afternoon at Nat Holman Gymnasium.

Fisher and Williams added 13 combined rebounds as the Hawks and Beavers both finished with 49 team rebounds and four Hunter players reached double figures in the Hawks' eight conference victory this season.

City College held Hunter to 35 percent shooting and the Hawks could not take advantage of their free throws as HC went 18-of-32 from the charity stripe. Kendra Rivers finished with six points on two three-pointers while Taylor Pompilio came off of the bench to add six points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals in 28 minutes of action.

Ayanna Hudson finished with 12 points and 23 rebounds and was a force on the offensive glass all contest.

The Beavers continue CUNYAC action and hit the road to face York College on Monday, Feb. 4 at 6 p.m. in Queens.
