Second period slump proves costly to Saxons

ALFRED, NY—Sophomore Taylor Kelley (Andover, NY/Andover) set a career-high in blocks with eight against visiting Hamilton College Friday evening. However, the Saxons fell 57-45 in the Terry S. Galanis Family Arena.
 
Junior Amanda Off (New Berlin, NY/Unadilla Valley) led AU with 20 points while collecting five rebounds.  In addition to leading the team in blocks, Kelley also paced the Saxons with eight rebounds. Sophomore McKaylee Croll (Perry, NY/Perry) had eight points and three assists on the night.
 
AU struggled in the opening half, shooting 4-of-25 (16.0%) from the field and 0-of-5 from behind the arc. However, the Saxons were able to turn their shooting around in the second half with 13-of-33 (39.4%) shooting while holding the Continentals to just 12-of-34 (35.3%) shooting.
 
Hamilton was led Sam Graber, earning 18 points and 12 rebounds in the contest. Lauren Getman added nine points and 11 rebounds.
 
Following the loss, AU (0-7, E8 0-0) goes on a hiatus until December 30th when it takes on Juniata College in the first round of the Juniata College Holiday Tournment at 4PM.
