January 16, 2019 No. 16 Captains Fall at First-Place Southern Virginia in CAC Action, 58-54 BUENA VISTA, Va. -- Taking on the lone unbeaten team remaining in the Capital Athletic Conference, the Christopher Newport women's basketball team opened up a 14-point lead in the first half at Southern Virginia (14-1, 5-0), but the Knights came from behind to earn the program's first ever win over a nationally-ranked opponent with a 58-54 victory over the Captains. CNU falls to 12-4 overall and 3-2 in conference action after the first setback to SVU in 16 all-time meetings. 
January 12, 2019 No. 17 CNU Women's Basketball Holds Off Frostburg State on the Road, 89-83 FROSTBURG, Md. -- Five Captains finished in double figures for the second time this season, including a quartet of freshmen, as the 17th-ranked Christopher Newport women's basketball team held off Frostburg State University (10-4, 2-2) in Capital Athletic Conference action Saturday afternoon, 89-83. Rookie Sondra Fan notched a career-high 20 points in 24 minutes of action to lead the way for CNU, who improves to 12-3 overall, 3-1 in CAC action. 
November 14, 2018 No. 20 Captains Rally Past Stevenson in the Fourth Quarter for 66-64 Win at Home NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Both teams put up matching scores in the first- and second-quarters before a pair of lopsided stanzas in the second half wound up deciding game two of the 2018-19 season for Stevenson University and the nationally-ranked Christopher Newport Captains. The halftime score was knotted at 30 before the Mustangs (0-2) opened up a 13-point lead in the third quarter, followed by a frenetic rally by the Captains (2-0) in the fourth, to pull out a two-point win at home, 66-64. 
March 3, 2018 Five hosts knocked out in second round In addition to TCNJ, UW-Whitewater, Texas-Dallas, Illinois Wesleyan and Randolph-Macon bit the dust, while St. Thomas survived a tough battle and Amherst found the second round a little bit tougher than the first.
March 3, 2018 No. 18 CNU Women's Basketball Heads Back to Sweet 16 With 84-58 Win Over Randolph-Macon in 2nd Round ASHLAND, Va. -- For the third straight season and the fifth time in six years under head coach Bill Broderick, the Christopher Newport women's basketball team is one of 16 teams left standing. After an 84-58 win over host Randolph-Macon College (26-5) on Saturday night, the 18th-ranked Captains improved to 24-4 and will dance on to the NCAA Sectional Round next weekend.
